A Note of Introduction
Throughout history God has been calling to His people to join Him in good works for His purposes and glory. We are called to be God’s vessels on this earth and over the next 12 weeks we are going to be studying God calling His people into action. We will begin with Moses at the burning bush being called
to lead the Israelites and end with our calling to eternal life through Jesus.
We will be studying how to hear God’s voice so we can really know Him, His heart, desires and will.
We will learn how God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things and that success depends on our availability more than our abilities. Our job is to be a willing servant when our Father calls and trust that He has prepared us in advance by His grace to accomplish His divine appointment. We must be
willing to make ourselves open to His voice and our hearts open to heed His call. We want to be able to say, “Yes, Lord send me” even when He takes us out of our comfort zones!
Our specific calling today may be different than it was in the past. We must be willing to grow with God and let our light shine in this dark world. When God is about to do something, He takes the initiative and comes to one or more of His servants. He invites them to adjust their lives to Him so that He can accomplish His eternal purpose through them. When God speaks we must respond. What will your answer be?
We influence the people around us for good or bad. Like the pebble thrown into the lake we send out ripples that touch distant shores. Sisters, let’s touch those distant shores in our heavenly Father’s name as we live out our prayer that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. No two people are exactly the
same and we have callings hand picked for us by our Lord. Let’s take advantage of every opportunity to be God’s faithful servants until He calls us to our eternal rest with Him.
This workbook is written from the New International Version. You should be able to answer all the questions by either examining the text or your life. Please be sure to pray before you begin each lesson. I have included a “digging deeper” page for you to explore a calling from that week more in depth by looking at the 5 basic elements of a calling and a place to record your own personal growth journal. Use this page to record ways God has revealed Himself to you that week and how you are going to respond to Him. Remember, we don’t always get a “burning bush” but our Heavenly Father is a great communicator and if we are willing to listen has much to say to those He loves.
My prayer for you is that you learn to better heed your Master’s call over the next few weeks and that you are willing to join Him in those works and roles He has planned in advance for you.
I want to thank my editors and especially my W.O.W. group for all their efforts and encouragement in making this study guide a reality.
